Hands-on training in counseling and assessment.
A practice-focused programme jointly run by the Counseling Centre and the Department of Psychology. Covers psychometric testing, foundational interviewing skills, ethical considerations, rapport-building, therapeutic techniques, outreach activities, case discussions, and role-plays.
What you cover
Four strands across 120 hours.
Psychometric testing
Procedures for administering tests, scoring responses, interpreting results, and preparing basic reports — through guided practice on assessments used in educational, clinical, and organisational settings.
Counseling practices
Foundational interviewing skills, ethical considerations, rapport-building methods, and structured approaches to addressing common client concerns. Demonstrations and supervised exercises throughout.
Therapeutic techniques
An introduction to basic concepts drawn from established therapeutic frameworks — cultivating professional sensitivity, communication, and an awareness of the responsibilities involved in psychological support.
Applied learning
Outreach activities, case discussions, and roleplay exercises connect coursework to community needs and realistic counseling scenarios.

Undergraduate students of Psychology.
The course is run jointly by the Department of Psychology and the University Counseling Centre. It is designed primarily for undergraduate students who want practical exposure to psychometric and counseling work alongside their degree.
